She begs her mother to keep the chicken but her mother tells her it is not their chicken but they can keep it until the owner shows up. When the chicken lays some eggs, Leora begs to keep the eggs. Leora and her family are very poor and an omlet would taste so good. But her mother again explains that the eggs belong to the owner of the chicken and they are just keeping the chicken until the owner comes back. How much trouble can one little chicken be?
