Cool Papa Byrd is a blues man. And his grandson Clayton thinks he is the best. Cool Papa lets Clayton come to some of his gigs even though they have to keep it secret from his mother. Clayton doesn't understand why she hates her own father so much. Especially since it is Cool Papa Byrd. But she wants nothing to do with the blues or that life even mentioned in her house.
