In 1934, Mrs. Harkness' husband went to China to find a panda. He eventually died in China before finding a panda to bring home to his wife. So she decided to travel to China to find one for herself. It wasn't an easy task. The journey was filled with dangers. Travel with Ruth Harkness as she boards a steamship to Shanghai and travels up the Yangtze and on into the mountains.
