New York : Harcourt, 2000
IL K-3, RL 3.8
Getting old can be a lonely thing. In this story, the old woman has outlived all her friends and family and does not want to get attached to anyone or anything ever again. But then a shy brown puppy arrives and seems to want to be with the old woman. She will feed him and let him stay in the yard but she will not name him. What will happen when the dog stops coming to the house?
